Glastonbury High School senior Paul Bedard knows how to motivate people. He not only got his classmates to put on a show for BC/EFA, but reached out to three other Hartford area high schools and got them involved, too.
Students from Conard, Portland and Newington High Schools joined Glastonbury for an evening of talent and dedication presented by a cast and crew of more than 80 students.
He even got the local Starbucks to donate coffee for his Broadway Cares cabaret benefit, making a cold December night much more pleasant for parents as they waited for their sons and daughters to sing, dance and act on the Newington High School stage.
Bedard cleverly positioned the coffee stations in the school lobby, right in the middle of the silent auction that he put together with the help of his friends. “The audience loved the autographed show posters we supplied for the auction, as well as all the items and packages from local vendors who supported the show,” he said.
During the show, students from all four schools introduced various sections by sharing information about Broadway Cares and the Connecticut-based grantees we support. And while raising over $2,000 for BC/EFA, Paul and his many friends showed how resourceful Connecticut teenagers can be in fighting AIDS.
BC/EFA is grateful to Mrs. Linda Napoletano, Mrs. Deborah Scorzato and Mr. Brian Stevenson for advising the students for the show.
