When I was 18 years old, my best friend Mina Gayed and I made a promise to each other that someday we would both run a marathon. Tragically, three years later, Mina passed away. It has always been my intention to keep my promise to him, and my friend Rory O'Malley's organization, Broadway Impact, is giving me the opportunity to fulfill that promise. I am running this marathon because I support marriage equality. This year has particular significance, as I myself am getting married. It is incredibly important and special to me that I get to marry the person I love. I believe that we should all have that right, regardless of sexual preference. In honor of my dear, late best friend and my many, many friends who are denied the right to marry every day, I have decided to make this very special year the year that I fulfill my promise.

Broadway Impact is a community of actors, directors, stage managers, fans, producers - pretty much anyone who has ever seen, been in or worked on a Broadway show - united by the simple belief that anyone who wants to should be able to get married.
